Wining By the Water

Although it definitely does not feel like Fall here in New Jersey, I've been wanting to scout out some new places to enjoy this up-coming season. With so much more time on my hands since our wedding, I headed to NYC with my girls on Saturday to share some laughs and most importantly drinks! I love spending the day in the city, especially by the water!

I had heard about City Vinyard from my friend from college. She's been living in the NYC since we graduated and always knows about the most fun places! When I told her I wanted to spend the day either on or by the water and she suggested this beautiful spot. Although it was a bit hot this past weekend, with cooler days approaching, this restaurant is a great afternoon spot - and a special treat awaits if you stick around for sunset! City Vinyard faces the Hudson on the Western side of Manhattan and offers a fantastic show of colors as the sun disappears behind New Jersey's skyline.



Customers are able to dine and drink in either the inside main dining room, the outside Wine Garden - which is surrounded by live grape vines, or on the Roof Deck. 
We chose the Wine Garden since it was a bit too hot in the direct sunlight. This way we had some shade, but also felt a nice breeze. 





The restaurant serves lunch and dinner - decently priced and with lots of options to share. Wine can be ordered by the bottle or glass. We had a really refreshingly, crisp Sauvignon Blanc that was perfect for the high temperatures. 


The restaurant sits right by Pier 26, where you can even rent Kayaks for free before sun down!!! More info here: Downtown Boathouse.

Easy Peasy Mommy Meals

I am now almost 5 months postpartum and still trying to figure this whole "mom-thing" out. Most people don't talk about how challenging it can be to juggle being a mother and partner AND to also still be your own person. My life has changed a lot and while I absolutely love my son and new family dynamic, I struggle with finding time and energy to dedicate to the things that made me "me" pre-baby. Pregnancy - Tips on How to Enjoy Your Body's Changes

As my second trimester is coming to an end soon, I wanted to open up and share some tips that have made the first couple months of pregnancy a little easier on me. Perhaps there are some soon-to-be-mommies out there who can find some comfort in knowing: "You are not alone"!!! Although I was over-the-moon excited about seeing those two pink lines on the stick, overwhelming emotions soon set in as my body started going through its changes.  Please remember that everyone's pregnancy is different and these are just things that helped me personally :) Give in to the fact that your clothes will start getting tight - I believe if you look good, you feel good, so wear clothes that fit and are comfortable.
